A Crafty Guide to Productive Pauses During the Slow Times
Doom pile decluttering, working ahead, revisiting abandoned projects - will I take my own advice here? That remains to be seen at the end of summer.
Ya’ll things are slow in the artsy crafty world - and not just for me. You can’t listen to a podcast, read a Substack post or chat with a creative friend without getting the vibe that folks are feeling creatively blocked, overwhelmed and at the same time a little panic stricken about how they are going to pay the bills. I am definitely in this category but I am also from the school of what I like to refer to as buck the heck up so I refuse to let this slow summer season completely get me down creatively (key word in that sentence is completely). I’m thinking of this summer as an active hibernation or brumation season - on the outside and work wise things might be slow but on the inside my body and mind will be humming “Harder, Faster, Stronger” getting ready for my majestic fall comeback.
