The art of packing for an out of town craft conference is something that has taken me years to perfect and there is no one size fits all approach. What you pack depends a lot on what you are going to be doing. I’ve broken this down into three main craft conference archetypes.
The Crafter - Strictly there to make all the things and have an excuse to come home and go supply shopping for their new favorite hobby they just discovered.
The Hustler - Can’t wait to pass out business cards, network like crazy and furiously take notes during every panel and think tank.
The Teacher - They are there to teach you all the things, maybe promote a side hustle (hey have you subscribed to this Substack yet).
First I’ll start with some good general packing tips for all three major types. Mind you, there are hybrid versions of these so feel free to mix and match.
