The Glue Gun Gazette 5/15/25
The latest creative gossip hotter than your high-temp glue gun! New Classes, Craftcation Round-Up an Interview and more!
If you have been following along with my series about Craftcation the final post is here! Hot off the presses: The Craftcation Chronicles. If you were on the fence about attending in 2026 you won’t be after reading this. I also made this cute Instagram Reel all about it.
Maybe flying to California for a Craftcation is not your thing. Perhaps you enjoy crafting with others from the comfort of your home and in your pajamas. I got you. Check out Sketchbook Revival. It’s free and always FULL of so much great inspiration especially if you are into mixed media, drawing or painting. Plus all the teachers usually have bonus free classes you can sign up for. Registration just opened and it’s FREE.
DIY Pendant Lamp from a jumbo egg - who woulda thunk it? I did! I’m hoping to add more crafty projects and videos here on Substack. Any requests?
Here are a few Substack things I have enjoyed as of late… 11 Creatives On Their First Art Love by
(you might spy my answer in the comment section). Loved seeing fellow Austinite Adrian Brooks (who I own an early piece by) in The Jealous Curator by this week. and are making me want to glue stuff to stuff because remember, and I stand by this quote: “glue sticks are my Xanax”.
New class alert! Let’s get crafty ya’ll… 6/6 Bookbinding at Oil and Cotton in Dallas. 6/21 Framed Floral Fun at Sew Bonita in Corpus Christi. 6/28 Kitschy Trinket Filled Dioramas at Figment in Austin. 7/26 Bookbinding Junk Journals at Figment in Austin.
I fully think there should be a thrift tour bus for every city. I could host the one for Austin, but this one in Dallas looks pretty tempting.
I love interviewing fellow creatives and picking their brains about all the things - this chat with Timm Sevitz was amazing because he is endlessly creative and talented PLUS he knows his way around a social media algorithm.
Speaking of creative dudes. This is a fun chat with Todd Oldham from The Met. Thanks to the Creative Reuser and her fabulous newsletter for putting this video in my inbox. Check out this podcast interview I did with Danielle Kurtz who was the Director of Creative and Marketing for Kid Made Modern.
See ya next week! If you ever have anything you think should be in an issue of The Glue Gun Gazette please share. Have a favorite newsletter you think I would enjoy? Drop the link in the comments.
