Traveling and Teaching - How I Partly Fund My Creative Adventures With Workshops on the Road and You Can Too!
Key word in that sentence is partly, but every little bit helps when you are a crafty hustler on the road.
I’ve been trying to get all the posts for this series out on Mondays, but you may have noticed this is a Tuesday. Why you ask? Because I just flew in yesterday from a week in California where I taught 7 classes in 3 different cities. Talk about wandering workshops. At one of these events a girl asked me a deep question: “If you could be doing anything in the world what would it be?” I told her it was exactly what I was doing - traveling, crafting and meeting new people. Universe this is me putting it out there officially.
I’ll be totally transparent and say that teaching while traveling does not cover the cost of my trips. I don’t even break even most times but it does help take the edge off and pay for a few hotel nights and meals. This is my guide for how I teach on the road from Los Angeles to Brooklyn. I’ll share how I find craft studios, promote events, ship supplies and how to split the ticket sales with the studio owners.
