It’s the Easter edition with discussions on Freud, marshmallows, dragon eggs and of course artsy crafty stuff. Oh and a free kitschy Easter download.
This may come as a huge shock - but I love weird quirky art. Ok not really all that shocking. I loved so many of the graphics in Tom Seidmann-Freud’s Book of Hare Stories (1924). So glad I found it via the Public Domain. Fun facts: Tom is a she and she is the niece of Sigmund Freud. Also, while we are on the topic of Freud relatives have you watched Fashion Neurosis with Bella Freud (his great-granddaughter)? I found this interview with Nick Cave super interesting where he talks about creativity in a very
just Keep Going kind of way.
Let’s talk Easter crafts. I’ve got SO MANY to share here, here and here. Plus I rounded up some cute ones to share from other folks… A Bunny Quilt Block from Create Whimsey. Scrappy Bunnies from The Little Green Bean. Easter adjacent are these Pastel Pets Junk Journals from Thrifty Day. Also not exactly Easter but close enough are these paintings of mid-century spring kitsch by Tenyka Jay.
Not exactly an Easter egg but possibly more fun are these Play-Doh Dragon Eggs from the upcoming The Big Book of Fantasy Kids Crafts. Did you catch my video interview with author Jennifer Buchheit? There is even a giveaway! I once decorated a Game of Thrones themed Christmas Tree complete with these DIY Dragon Eggs. P.S. Did you see those news articles about the dire wolves being bred and George RR Martin going to visit them? Weirdness.
I felt very in the zeitgeist with my Easter Dyed Potatoes over on HGTV after seeing that even The New York Times was talking about this trend! Who knew taters were so crafty. Don’t forget you can dye ‘Easter’ marshmallows too!
Just a quick reminder California I am coming your way in two weeks. Love to see you in San Luis Obispo for book binding, Ventura for Craftcation AND the Glue Stuff to Stuff Experience then in Los Angeles for Painting Weirdos. Hey guess what? I’m putting together kits to teach my Framed Floral Flower Bouquet Class online!
I leave you with a little something for your virtual Easter basket. A free download so you have an Egg-Stra Happy Easter. Great for your art journal, collage or phone screensaver.
Remember if you wanted to share this with a friend that would be awesome.
Did you read The Glue Gun Gazette 3/27/25 or my April newsletter?
I am so excited to try dying marshmallows this year!
