We're Going Through a Breakup
Don't worry it was amicable - Au Revoir Mailchimp and Bonjour Substack.
Remember when you couldn’t throw a rock without hitting someone with a podcast (Hey Creative Queso)? It’s happening with Substack too and I’m not angry about it. Heck I’m into it, hence why your’e here instead of there. If you signed up for my newsletter via Mailchimp nothing is going to change except where you get my monthly free newsletter from, so sit back and enjoy.
If you want to hear me ramble on even more about my love of thrifting, glue sticks and over the top holiday decor consider becoming a paid subscriber. I am building out lot’s of fun content and you can expect interviews, studio tours, thrift store hauls, video tutorials, giveaways and more. I wrote an entire post about it HERE.
A Giveaway and an Interview
Thought I would kick off the new newsletter with a bang and a giveaway! First check out this fun interview with the folks from Hot Dang Press. We chat about wholesale, how a Cricut machine kicked off the company and a love of tattoos for your clothing. PLUS there is a giveaway for an adorable iron on set at the end of the interview.

Knowledge Nuggets
So the monthly newsletter with all this great info will always be free, but starting in April some fun things will be for subscribers only. One of those things is a new weekly listical called Knowledge Nuggets.
Are you doing the 100 Day Project with
? I wrote an entire post about my grand plans to paint faces, journal and get my Substack on. So far so good. Check out my week one update.Recently I thrifted several bags of vintage fussy cut fabric appliques and I’m still debating what to do with them. Then I heard this episode of NPR’s Life Kit about visible mending and discovered Risk Thrift and thought it was probably a sign.
Remember in the last newsletter when I mentioned being featured in a CNN in article about junk journals? Almost equally exciting was when the next week when I saw my “Gluesticks are my Xanax” quote in my favorite newsletter from Austin Kleon!
Finally got around to watching Anora this week. I see why it swept the Oscars. Also watched Hilma about artist Hilma AF Klint whose work I really like. Don’t worry it’s not all highbrow I’m also anxiously awaiting the weddings episode of Love is Blind.
Listened to an episode of the Windowsill Chats Podcast where they discussed Crayola bringing back some retired colors. Reminded me of this awesome profile I saw of an 83 year old Crayon collector.
One of the best things about Substack is finding other Substacks. Creative and interesting folks I am currently subscribed to include:
, and . Love for you to share your favorites with me.I’m a sucker for a good inspirational quote written in a fun font full of colors. Here are a few that have tickled my fancy lately from Dreyfus Art, Manasseto and Kelli Laderer. We’ve come a long way from they days of hang in there kittens dangling from tree branches.
I leave you with a Rick Astley cover of Pink Pony Club and this Architectural Digest video interview with occasional Chappell Roan set designer Maris Jones. Maris very much gives me Cindy Sherman and early
vibes and I love it.Thanks for reading all the way to the bottom! See ya next month. Don’t forget to tell a friend, subscribe and make sure this very important email is going to the correct spot in your inbox.
