Art and Crafts of the Week
Screen Printing, Watercolor, Collage and Stencils - No crafty stone left unturned this week.
Though I failed miserably at the 100 Day Project I did enjoy sharing pictures of what I was working on. I thought it would be fun to pick up where I left off and share a few shots to sum up my week.
Some Weeks Are Craftier Than Others
Like most people some weeks are artier than other weeks. I might go days without touching a paintbrush and then there are weeks like this one where I do all the things. Speaking of all the things let me show you…
Screen Printing at the Art Museum
Local art museum The Blanton hosted an 80’s party I attended with a gaggle of my best gals. They sold me with crafts and encouraging everyone to dress in theme. Side note: my sister won best dressed.
Why Not Watercolor?
I’m the first to admit that watercolor is not my favorite medium. I think it is my lack of experience but I do like playing with it. By playing I mean just kind of painting random things to cut up.
I binged watch a lot of TV and busted out the watercolor. Throughout my week of various crafting endeavors I watched: The Last Showgirl, My Mom Jayne, The Bear, The Woman in the Yard, Sinners and Love Island.
Watching more TV with my cat while I cut out shapes. She is sitting right next to me in the exact same position as I type this.
I made more watercolor blobs than I will ever get around to using, but can you really ever have too much collage fodder.
I added some of the blobs to various art journals I have going. Does anyone else have like 5-10 journals they are working in at once? Like this one is all in shades of orange, pink and yellow.
As you can see I made several sheets of watercolor paper. Some were the shapes that I painted and cut out others were full sheets of random color that I made organic shapes out of later.
Conclusion: maybe I like playing with watercolor more than I thought I did.
Snail Trails
I’m pretty smitten on the wee snail ornament I made this weekend. He is a project I will be teaching at the Makers Retreat. There are a few spots left for the in person event and you can also attend virtually and get a snail kit!
I also love the repeat pattern I made on the back of the snail! Thanks to my buddy Ed Roth from Stencil1 for the fun snail and flowers stencil.
So that’s my artsy craftsy week. Did I mention I also ice-dyed a slew of white T-shirts and taught a diorama class? Check out all the pictures from class here and if you want to buy one my sister noticed a student from class is selling the one she made on Facebook Marketplace.
Did you read…
More glimpses into my never ending pile of art journals, altered books, junk journals - whatever you want to call them.
