If you subscribe to my monthly newsletter you know how much I love a good list. I like my information in small bite sized chunks. I like them interesting and fun, things that make for good dinner party conversation nuggets. Assuming you attend dinner parties with fellow creatives.
One of my favorite newsletters belongs to the Public Domain Review. So many amazing antique books and graphics have been digitized for us to enjoy. Recent favorites have included What to Draw and How to Draw It (especially handy for my 100 Day Project), French Silk Sample Book and Woodblock Prints of Post Disaster Tokyo.
I recently stumbled across artist Derrick Adams in a CNN article of all places. As someone who is a long time collector of ceramic face jugs I was immediately drawn to his work. I especially love Sweeting the Pot and Fantastic Voyage. Oh and also just found this print of face jugs by Jamie Hayon that I adore. Reminds me of the time I made face planters out of air dry clay.
Speaking of CNN (I swear I read other news sites too) I saw this article that was craft adjacent called Furniture Flipping: The Side Hustle Making Influencers Thousands Per Month. I’m not a big flipper of furniture but I have Recovered a Console Table and Painted Barstools in my day. Usually it breaks my heart to see cool midcentury furniture slathered in gray chalk paint with basic stencils, but ya know to each his own. I was disapointed not to see my favorite TikTok flipper Clinton Avery Tharp in the article.
Listened to a great interview with Justina Blakeney of Jungalow fame on the We Can Do Hard Stuff podcast. I love interviews with fellow creatives especially ones that are multi-passionate. Did you catch this post I put up yesterday: Interviews With 10 Inspiring Substackers.
Anyone here going to Craftcation? There are still tickets available. This weekend we get to pick workshops and I’m nerve wracked. It’s a bit like registering for college when you furiously tried to get into certain classes. I highly suggest everyone sign up for a spot in one of my two Painting Weirdos Workshops - I’ll be teaching lot’s of make and takes too. These are the workshops I’ve got my eye on: Watercolor Repeat Patterns and Linocut Stamps with Ana Bianchi, Botanical Bundle Dying with Rachael Duran, Fabric Wrapped Rope Baskets with Dari Litchman and Upcycled Sweaters & Needle Felting with Jesse Katz Greenberg.
P.S. Have a happy St. Patrick’s Day! Here’s my rainbow wreath to celebrate.
Tune in next week for another free random round-up of the Glue Gun Gazette and remember if you wanted to subscribe that would be awesome.
Did you read The Glue Gun Gazette 3/6/25 or my March newsletter?
I just love your newsletter. A great way to spice up my otherwise boring work emails :-)
